An ideal place for reconnecting with nature, a favorite person, and simple joys. Experience an unforgettable stay in this 2021 /\ Frame.
Nestled in a blanket of trees, it blends both seclusion and companionship.
Escape the chaos of life as you completely unwind by the fireplace. Let your imagination wonder on the Lake Superior beach or take a nap in the hammock after a long day of hiking/skiing.
Surrounded by evergreen and birch trees, there is a wide variety of North woods flora and fauna, meandering creeks, and the gorgeous Lake Superior in your front yard..
The open floor plan and a wall of windows keeps light in during the day, while at night it erases the division between inside and out, giving you the feeling of floating amongst the stars. The expansive night sky in this dark sky sanctuary is especially clear on our wrap around deck.
Enjoy walks to the beach, breathtaking sunsets and beach bonfires, kayaking, biking, hiking to the nearby waterfalls, shopping for vintage treasures or just relaxing/stargazing in the beautiful private backyard.
Built for travelers seeking a retreat in a sustainable stay, we designed this cabin to offer all the necessities one would need in thoughtfulness of nature: solar power for lighting and charging electronics, gas fireplace and stove, A-frame outhouse and rain barrel collection.
The inspiration for Gaucho Cabin came from our time spent living in Argentina, which is where our story together began. Our hope is that travelers can enjoy the same serenity from nature in this rustic refuge that our journey’s brought us.
The interior has been thoughtfully curated with unique decor from Patagonia, Argentina and local Grand Marais artists.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this cabin for everyone? — Not exactly… We want to be clear that this is an off-grid cabin that was meant to be used as a rustic refuge. We know that not everyone digs an outdoor bucket shower or an outhouse.
Is the bed upstairs? — Yes. The bed is located in the high loft which can only be accessed by a steep ladder. Guests use at their own risk.
Is there Wifi or cell network service? — Yes there is cell signal. Verizon tends to have much better reception than At&t or T-Mobile. There is no wifi… some say for an even better connection :)
What is a “dry” cabin? — This means you will be completely off-grid: solar-powered lighting & charging, plumbing free, outhouse, etc.
What about water? — We provide drinking water in larger jugs and have rain barrels for wash water.
What is your bathroom situation? — We have an A-frame outhouse and an outdoor bucket shower (see in photo gallery).
Do you have a coffee maker? — We have a pour over and filters for your use.
Do you have a fire pit? — Yes, Wood bundles can be bought in town.

Amanda - May 2021 Patagonia Cabin
“Every detail was thought of when building and hosting guests. It was made to experience complete tranquility and peace. It was beautiful and almost made me tear up to see how every piece fit together. What a lovely retreat and serene place to spend time to rest. Communication was clear and the hosts were quick to respond. Would highly recommend to anyone who values care to detail and one of a kind experiences.”

Beth - July 2021 Patagonia Cabin
"What a beautiful space Stevie and Juani have created to share with the world. It was even more special reading Stevie’s story and the inspiration for the Patagonia Cabin. Our time at the Patagonia Cabin was perfect. We hiked the Superior Trail behind the property and the middle falls trail in Grand Portage. All beautiful. We also spent time swimming in and walking the shores of Lake Superior. We could not have asked for a better space, better weather, or a more beautiful area to celebrate our 30 years.
A genuine thank you for an incredible experience."

“My stay was perfection. The Patagonia cabin had so many thoughtful details and personal touches, it’s absolutely beautiful inside and out. The hosts were responsive and made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. I was craving solitude and a retreat from busy city life and I got just that. I can’t recommend enough!”
